About The Trekking Economist
My name is Alex Bond, and I am an economics graduate student based at KU Leuven in Belgium, recieving my undergraduate in Economics and Political Science at the University of Michigan. During this time I found myself financially constrained deep interest in travel. These fields that may seem distinct at first, often overlap in the way people move, spend, govern, and experience the world. The Trekking Economist is my attempt to bring those interests together. The site combines practical trekking guides, budget-focused travel advice, and short essays on the economic, legal, and institutional forces shaping the places we visit. From mountain trails to market incentives, my goal is to explore the world with both a backpack and a ledger.
